1. SC Loves to Censure

As the national news media has pointed for the last 24 hours, our state’s senior Senator Lindsay Graham has been censured by the Lexington County Republican Party. There were 20 voting members present with a vote of 13–7 in favor of censure. Now, 2009 was the unofficial year of the censure here in SC, but it seems to be carrying over to the new year. It seems that a few disgruntled, misguided members of the Lexington County Executive Committee decided that January 4 was the night they would strike. There was no warning or notification that a censure resolution would be heard at the meeting. Alas, it was heard and it passed.

What these “Ron Paulers” need to realize is that censuring our Senator does more harm than good. It is merely drawing unnecessary attention to our county parties. If you really would like to relay your message to the Senator, why not invite him to a meeting to defend himself? That way you can be assured that he hears your complaints, he won’t have to suffer this embarrassment, and neither will South Carolina. 2. Democrats hate tradition

The Democrats in Washington are preparing to shut out Republicans in the final health–care deliberations. Traditionally, both chambers would meet after reconvening and hammer out an agreement. The Democrats are afraid that the Republicans would use the rules to slow down the process. How unfair, actually using the rules to do your job. Maybe its a part of this whole “change” motto. But, like the contents of a hobo’s can, this is change we don’t want. Let’s keep traditions like rules. We don’t think that closed door meetings, where the future of our country’s health care will be decided, are the proper decorum for debate. That’s why we have traditions.

3. Jenny’s about to go “Palin”

Like the former VP nominee, our State’s First Lady Jenny Sanford has a book coming out soon. But, It’s a lot sooner than we first thought. It was first reported the book would be released in May. Today, it was announced that the release has been moved up to February 5. The publisher assures everyone that this has nothing to do with the announced trial date for her and the “Governor” scheduled for late February. Riiiiiighht.
