Olympia art exhibit
Olympia is coming to 701 Whaley Street. The new contemporary art exhibit, constructed by artists Gwylene Gallimard and Jean– Marie Mauclet, will open on January 7 and run though February 21. Sculptural renditions of Olympia and Granby Mills, 701 Whaley Street, and Olympia Village will be on display. Sculptures of historic and recent buildings in Olympia will also be on display. The first event will be on Thursday January 7 from 7 pm to 9 pm beginning with an opening reception.
Each Wednesday night, experts will come in to discuss the art; it will also provide residents of the Olympia Community an opportunity to share.
While Christmas is often a time for giving, criminals find it as a time for taking. Two such cases happened in the Olympia area. A robbery and kidnapping occurred at 45 Bluff Road. The criminals broke into the residence and held the homeowners at gun point. Also, 415 Virginia Street was the site of a burglary where a computer was stolen.
Two local businesses were recognized by We are Olympia and Jim Jaco for their support and contributions to the Olympia Community. Mike Merrill of Merrill Plumbing Company and Bill Yandle of Yandle Produce Company received plaques for their respective businesses.
