Killian Elementary Steppers do well in first competition
The Killian Elementary Schoolhouse Steppers
The Killian Elementary Schoolhouse Steppers consist of 28 girls from grades second through fifth. The purpose of the team is to increase interest in physical fitness, elevate school pride, and improve motivation and team spirit. Their step routines consist of a variety of rhythms, movements, and dances that include clapping of the hands and stomping of the feet.
The Schoolhouse Steppers participated in their first step competition Saturday, December 5, 2009. The competition was held at E.L. Wright Middle School, and the Steppers came in third place.
They are scheduled to compete Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Black History “Step up Your Game” competition at Eau Claire High School at 5 pm.
The Schoolhouse Steppers are coached by P.E. teacher Ana Byrd, first grade teacher Jennipher Griffin, and paraprofessional Patrice Rickenbacker.
