How to take photos like a pro

Contributed by the SC State Museum

Photographs of friends and family go with the holidays like fruit cake and sugar cookies, and the South Carolina State Museum will offer tips on taking great holiday pictures in a program Tuesday, December 29 at 1:30 pm.

As part of its Winter Fest activities, the museum will present “How to Take Photos Like a Pro” with professional photographer Manuel Gaetan.

“Mr. Gaetan is a five–star Canon master photographer, and we’re excited to have him here to help people learn to take better photographs,” said Director of Programs and Education Meika Samuel. “He will explain the difference between a snapshot and a photograph and give tips on getting great photos that anyone can do.”

The session, which is free with museum admission or membership, is informal. Gaetan also will explain the basic rules that accomplished photographers follow to produce beautiful photographs.

The seminar is just one of many fun activities for the family during Winter Fest at the State Museum through Jan. 3. Others include special movie screenings, programs in the museum’s portable planetarium Star Lab ($3 per person), pottery demonstrations and seasonal arts and crafts for kids.
