Colonial Ball held in Charleston

Martha Whitney Bellows Martha Whitney Bellows The South Carolina Sons of the American Revolution held its Nineteenth Colonial Ball with Debutante Presentation on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at the Charleston Place Hotel.

Cadets from The Citadel opened the formal affair presenting the colors and providing the arch of swords during the processional of debutantes. The receiving line commenced at 6:15 pm with the presentation of debutantes at 7 pm followed by a formal dinner. Music was provided by the Jimmy Farr Orchestra.

Eligibility in the Colonial Ball is extended to young ladies who hold direct lineage to a patriot of the American Revolution.

Miss Martha Whitney Bellows is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Howard Bellows of Columbia. She is the granddaughter of Mr. John R. Harbison and the late Mrs. J.R. Harbison and Mrs. Howard A. Bellows and the late Mr. Bellows. A sophomore at USC, Miss Bellows was presented by her father and escorted by Mr. Douglas Tapio Penninger of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Miss Bellows’ patriot lineage is Capt. George Givens of Virginia.

Isabelle Pinckney Caskey Isabelle Pinckney Caskey Miss Isabelle Pinckney Caskey is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Thomas Caskey of Columbia, South Carolina. She is the granddaughter of of the late Major and Mrs. William P. Caskey and the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard C. Lamb. A sophomore at USC, Miss Caskey was presented by her father and escorted by Mr. Shelton Taylor Smith of Hopkins, South Carolina. A graduate of Hammond School, Miss Caskey is a sophomore majoring in Studio Arts with a concentration in drawing. Miss Caskey's patriot lineage is Pvt. William Gainer of Virginia.

Miss Cameron McNair Crawford is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Clifford Crawford III of Cheraw, South Carolina. A senior at Saint Mary’s in Raleigh, North Carolina, Miss Crawford was presented by her father and escorted by James Clifford Crawford IV of Cheraw. Miss Crawford’s patriot lineage is John McNair of North Carolina and Sgt. Henry Boozer of South Carolina.

Cameron McNair Crawford Cameron McNair Crawford Miss Kimberlee Allen Lockwood is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Carr Lockwood III of Irmo, South Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Allen Jr. of Lexington, South Carolina, the late Nancy Starnes Allen and Mr. and Mrs. David Carr Lockwood Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina. A sophomore at Wofford College, Miss Lockwood was presented by her father and escorted by Mr. Adam Ryan Harrison of Woodruff, South Carolina. Miss Lockwoods patriot lineage is Capt. Valentine Sevier Jr. of Virginia.

Miss Ashleigh Nicole Tucker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Furman Dwayne Tucker of Gray Court, South Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. June Tucker and the late Mr. Furman Tucker of Gray Court and Mrs. Shirley Morris and the late Mr. Robert Jefferson of Gray Court. She was sponsored by her aunt Mrs. Charles M. Culbertson II, who is State Chaplain of the S.C. Society of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution. Miss Tucker, a junior at Clemson University, was presented by her father and escorted by Mr. Michael Lee Deer of Woodruff. Her patriot lineage is Col. James Steen of South Carolina.
