Heart ’n Soul’s contributions to the Midlands

Heart ’n Soul has performed in the Midlands since March, 2008, resulting in over $500,000 being contributed to local charities. The following is a list of their accomplishments.
2008:
March: First public performance for
Shandon United Methodist Church for a
BBQ & Bobbie Sox beach/shag party in the
Leisure Ministries Center to help raise
money for a special project of the Joy Class
(a Sunday School class). Packed the Gym
and found out that Methodists can really
dance.
April: Played for a gala with approximately
500 attendees for the Picasso Project: To
Prevent Child Abuse. Raised over $30,000
that evening.
October: Played for Project Pet’s “Fur Ball” –
organization to help with pet adoptions for
abandoned pets. They raised over $200,000
that evening. Their total for the entire event
went over $255,000
2009:
May: Played for The Five Points Rotary Club
Gift of Life Party raising over $5,000 to help

with a life saving operation for a child who
was brought to Columbia from Panama.
June: Performed for the city of Columbia’s
Summer Concert Series in Finlay Park
(funds received from City of Columbia used
for donations to charities the band selected)
September: SC Symphony League’s Shag
Party to raise money for the SC
Philharmonic. Donated $2,500 to their
organization.
September: Columbia Sailing Club’s
Outback Regatta party. Donated $1,500 to
Muscular Dystrophy
October: Project Pet’s 2009 Fur Ball.
Donated $2,500 to their organization. The
gala that night raised over $200,000.
November: Played for the party of Executive
Association of Greater Columbia. Funds
received were used to help pay for a donation
to The Cooperative Ministry in the
amount of $5,000 which was made
December 17.
2010 (scheduled performances thus far)
February 20: American Heart Association’s
Heart Ball
March 5: American Red Cross gala
April: Sertoma statewide convention
October: Project Pet’s 2010 Fur Ball
