Shepherd’s Center of Columbia begins winter session

The Shepherd’s Center of Columbia will begin its winter session January 6 and continue through March 3, 2010. This community based inter–faith program for adults 55 and over meets each Wednesday in the Leisure Ministries Building of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, 3401 Trenholm Road. The program begins at 9 am with yoga for older adults, free blood pressure checks, coffee, and fellowship.

Classes offered at 9 am, 10 am,and 11 am include Acrylic and Watercolor Painting, Dulcimers, Classic Movies and Great Stars, Germany during the 1920s and 30s, Creative Stew (various speakers), Controversies in Constitutional Law, Creative Writing, Volunteerism (various speakers), Great Biographies, Jazz and Swing, The Early Middle Ages 500–1000, Music and Stories of Famous Operas, A Study of American Fiction, Holidays of the Hebrew Bible, Handbells, and Bridge Instruction.

Afternoon classes begin at 1:30 pm and include a travel class “Fun in France,” Music is Fun, and Bridge Playing on Your Own.

At noon, lunch is provided for $7. Reservations must be made in advance.

Tuition is $25 per session, and members may attend as many classes as they wish. For more information, call 779- 4449.
