Life in the Capital City during Reconstruction and early 20th century
Historic Columbia Foundation will present “People, Places, and Progress of Columbia: The Capital City Rebuilds, 1865–1914,” a six–part lecture series held each Tuesday from 6 pm–7:30 pm starting January 5 through February 9, 2010. The series will be held at the Robert Mills Carriage House, 1616 Blanding Street, and also will include optional bus tours to various historic sites. Tours will be held on Sundays from 2 pm–5 pm.
Dr. Warner Montgomery, local historian and publisher, is guest lecturer for the series. He will provide insight on Columbia’s cultural climate, and development during Reconstruction and during the early 20th century.
Lectures are Tuesdays 6 pm – 7:30 pm.
