Eagles complete perfect regular season
      The Airport Eagles capped off a perfect 10–0 regular season with a 39–17 win over rival Brookland– Cayce Friday, October 30. The Eagles overcame a slow start in the first half to pull away from the Bearcats in the second half and finish with an unblemished record heading into the first round of the playoffs where they will meet Darlington at home.

Blue Devils give outgoing coach a birthday present
      After the traditional postgame singing of the alma mater, the costume–clad marching band and dance squad serenaded Dreher coach Bill Bacon with a spirited rendition of happy birthday. While nice, Bacon received the best gift a coach could ask for moments earlier: a playoff–berth–earning victory and a one–week career extension.

Bacon resigns as Dreher head coach
      Bill Bacon, who has coached the Dreher High School football team for the past 11 seasons, will step down at the conclusion of the season. Bacon submitted his resignation in October and informed his team following its loss to Airport on Oct. 23.

Knights victorious again
      The Capital City Knights 12U USSSA travel baseball team continued its winning ways with a championship in Hendersonville, NC at the Hardball Classic on October 17 and 18 and another championship in West Columbia at the 6th Annual Halloween Jamboree on October 24 and 25. In the past three tournaments, the Knights have compiled a winning record of 11–0.
