“Veterans Day marks the anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War, when all hostilities ceased at 11 am on November 11, 1919,” said Events Committee Chairman Dr. Richard Conant. “Many of the Members of the Club, their family members and friends have first hand knowledge of war and the sacrifices made by our men and woman in uniform. We shouldn’t forget those who have fought and continue to fight to make America and the world a better place,” he continued. “This dinner celebration is designed to do just that and the Midlands community is invited to join us as we honor and salute South Carolina’s veterans.”

WIS–TV–10 personality Joe Pinner will serve as emcee. Fort Jackson Commanding General, Brigadier General Bradley May, is guest speaker for the occasion. This event is open to the public and reservations can be made by calling (803)256-2000. Highlights during the evening include presentations from Colonel Kevin Shwedo, the Reverend Charles Jackson, Judge Matthew Perry, and celebratory champagne toasts to America’s servicemen and women. The centerpiece of the festivities includes a “Missing Man Table Ceremony” in honor of Americans still missing from action and service.
