Columbia City Councilman At Large, Daniel Rickenmann, has been selected by the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) Delegate Selection Committee to represent the United States on an international exchange program to Egypt.

The seven–member delegation will meet with political officials at the national, regional and local levels. The delegates will also have the opportunity to meet with business leaders and members of the civic community. The delegation is scheduled to leave from Washington DC on Friday, November 13th and will return on November 23rd.

Councilman Rickenmann stated, “I am honored to have been chosen to represent the United States and the City of Columbia on such a renowned exchange program. I believe the relationships that the delegation establishes in Egypt will truly be beneficial to our economies.”

In 2006 Councilman Rickenmann was also selected as one of 25 US participants to the Young Leaders Conference held by the American Swiss Foundation in Zurich Switzerland.

The ACYPL is a bipartisan, non–profit educational exchange organization dedicated to fostering relations between the next generation of political leaders in the United States and their counterparts around the world. Its practical education programs include international exchanges, foreign policy and democracy conferences and election study programs.

Each year ACYPL sends young Americans (age 25-40) on political study tours abroad and organizes reciprocal visits to the United States. Participants learn diplomatic skills, engage in dialogue on bilateral issues and forge professional relationships through the unique access they receive to the political leadership of the nation(s) they visit.
