W. Columbia supports Airport Blvd. beautification
Call to Order
Mayor Bobby E. Horton called the meeting of West Columbia City to order on Tuesday, October 06, 2009 at 6 pm. Members present included Mayor Bobby E. Horton, Mayor Pro–Tem Tommy G. Parler, Eric L. Fowler, L. Dale Harley, Jack L. Harmon, Boyd J. Jones, Marsha J. Moore, and Cathy Shannon. Councilman B.J. Unthank was absent.
Approval of Minutes
After announcements by the mayor, council unanimously approved the minutes from the public hearing on the Quail Hollow Village annexation and the regular council meeting held on September 1, 2009. Council also unanimously approved the minutes from its special meeting on September 21, 2009.
Old Business
Council gave unanimous second reading approval of an amendment to Section 1–2–5(a) of the West Columbia Code of Ordinances relating of the election of the city’s Mayor Pro–Tempore.
New Business
Council gave unanimous first reading approval of an ordinance to adopt Chapter One of the International Building and Related Codes.
Council gave unanimous first reading approval of an ordinance amending the City of West Columbia Ordinance Title 6, entitled Health and Sanitation, to include Chapter 5, Sections 1–10, to regulate rental housing.
Council gave unanimous first reading approval of an ordinance to amend the City of West Columbia Ordinance Title 9, Chapter 3 to adopt the offense of trespassing.
Council gave unanimous approval of an ordinance to annex 1.145 acres of property located at 1911 and 1917 Sunset Boulevard.
Council gave unanimous first reading approval to the planning commission’s recommendations to establish the zoning classification for recently annexed property at 2117 Grove Street as R- 2(Medium Density Residential) and to establish the zoning classification for recently annexed properties at 1000 and on Morningside Drive located next to 2001 Morningside Drive as R-4(Low Density Residential).
A proclamation to designate December 4, 2009 as Arbor Day in West Columbia was unanimously approved.
A resolution to support and pursue funding for the Airport Boulevard (SC 302) Beautification Project in partnership with the city of Cayce, town of Springdale and Lexington County was unanimously approved.
