Six Richland County students attend S.C. Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics

Nicole Beraho and Yuwei Wei, both of Irmo; Calvin Hu, Charlotte Musser, Camara Sharperson, all of Columbia; and Jarod Washington of Gadsden, have all been accepted to the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM). They join 53 other students from 23 counties as the class of 2011.
Beraho is the daughter of Enoch and Leoncia Beraho. Hu is the son of Weijia Hu and Xiaojin Yu. Musser is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Barden and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Musser. Sharperson is the daughter of Mr. J. Ren Sharperson. Washington is the son of Kevin and Rosetta Washington.
GSSM is a public, residential high school for academically talented and motivated juniors and seniors. It offers college–level courses and a hands–on curriculum with a special focus on science, math, technology, and research.
GSSM students moved to campus on August 12–16 and classes began August 19.
