On Friday, September 11, the Blythewood Bengals gave head coach Geremy Saitz a convincing 40- 7 win over their District Two rivals the Richland Northeast Cavaliers at Harry Parone stadium, and then they gave Saitz a Gatorade shower. The win improved Blythewood to 3- 1 and dropped Richland Northeast to 0- 3.

The first of six straight Bengal scoring drives began at the Blythewood nine- yard line with 4:53 remaining in the first quarter and was a sign of things to come. Blythewood junior running back Brandon Wilds accounted for 80 of the Bengals' 91 yards on the drive which included a 33- yard run and the 13- yard touchdown run.

The Cavaliers countered with a seven- play, 2:21, 75- yard drive that ended with a Darius Paulk with a two- yard touchdown run. Daniel Passament's extra point tied it at 7- 7 with 50 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

The Bengals answered just over a minute later when Demonta Brown turned a short screen pass from quarterback Daniel Young into a 37- yard touchdown.

Blythewood's Jerrell McCoy was able to shake Delveon Mcleod's tackle and run for an 18- yard touchdown. On the Bengals' next possession, Wilds ran six straight times for 37 yards and a touchdown to give Blythewood a 20- 7 lead with 6:13 remaining in the first half.

The Blythewood defense forced another Cavalier punt, and five plays and three minutes later Wilds ran it up the gut for a seven- yard touchdown. The Bengals weren't done though. After another Cavalier three- and- out, the Bengals drove 28 yards to the Richland Northeast three- yard line. Young snuck in to give Blythewood a 34- 7 lead with 36 seconds remaining in the half.

The Bengals opened the second half with a 75- yard drive. Wilds ran eight times for 45 yards before Young connected with Jarrell McCoy for an 18- yard touchdown and a 40- 7 Bengal lead. The Bengals put in back- up QB Demetric Gray after that and pretty much shut it down.

Wilds finished with 221 yards on 24 carries breaking Richard Mounce's previous single- game school rushing record of 198 yards set in the 2006 AAA state championship game. The 334 total rushing yards against RNE also broke a school record.

Paulk led the Cavaliers with 65 yards rushing and a touchdown. Wilson finished 9- for- 19 with 78 yards passing.
