Summer readers rewarded at RCPL

More than 31,000 children, teens, and adults turned to the Richland County Publ ic Library for summer reading and registered for RCPL's Summer Reading Clubs. More than 22,000 children under 12 participated and more than 2,600 teens joined Get Real, Get Reading (Get Stuff ), the Summer Reading Club exclusively for teens. Read & Relax, RCPL's adult Summer Reading Club, registered more than 6,700 participants.

Summer reading was particularly rewarding for 22 lucky adults and teens. An adult winner from each library location received a gift certificate to Books- A- Million and a Friends of RCPL book bag, while a teen winner from each location received a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble.

Adult winners were Helen Amick, Main Library; Ellen Moore Williams, The Link, Ballentine; Andrea Douglas, Blythewood Branch; Rhonda Garrett, Cooper Branch; Ruby Paul, Eastover Branch; Audrey Styles, North Main Branch; David Johnson, Northeast Regional Branch; Ashanti Friels, Sandhills Branch; Francis Scanlon, Southeast Regional Branch; Cheryl Simpson, St. Andrews Regional Branch; and Carla Moore, Wheatley Branch.

Teen winners were Santanna Watson, Main Library; Evan Alexander Pinson, The Link, Ballentine; Rachel Carroll, Blythewood Branch; Patricia Flores, Cooper Branch; Rosetta Sims, Eastover Branch; Joshua Keenon, North Main Branch; Jackie Wyant, Northeast Regional Branch; Stefanie Martin, Sandhills Branch; Kim Boswell, Southeast Regional Branch; Rackell Alisha Dominick, St. Andrews Regional Branch; and Arnea Bishop, Wheatley Branch.

Two grand prize winners — Read & Relax participant Joyce Lee Shealy and Get Real, Get Reading (Get Stuff ) participant Seirra Hamilton — were each presented with an MP4 player provided by Geiger O'Cain Advertising.
