Shandon Presbyterian Church begins "The Arts at Shandon Series"

Shandon Presbyterian Church will present the opening event of "The Arts at Shandon Series" with "The Mozart Project" Friday, September 18, 2009, at 7:30 pm. The concert is hosted by Lynn Compass and John Williams and includes singers Tina Stallard and Mark Rattray and instrumentalists Lynn Compass, piano; Neil Casey, violin; Connie Gee, viola; and David Gee, cello. After the concert there will be refreshments and a meet and greet with the artists. The entrance fee is $10, and tickets are available from the church office at 771-4408.

Their second event, pianist Alan Weinberg will be Friday, October 9, 2009. He will perform Rachmaninoff

Concer to. He will pre- record the orchestral parts and use a synthesizer to bring them into the performance as an accompaniment to his piano performance. There is no ticket cost to this event but donations are welcome.

On November 13, 2009 at 7:30 pm, the series will continue with "Coffee House Poetry and Guitars" with guitar duo, Jeff Harris and Alan Knight, also known as The Sound of Two, performing a musical repertoire from Vivaldi to Barbershop.

Shandon Presbyterian member Chuck Henderson will perform his special guitar style as well. The evening will be held in a 60's coffee house style. There will be poetic readings to enjoy along with the musical performances. There is a $5 entrance fee for this event and refreshments will be served..

Beginning in January, 2010, the series will present an annual dance, a concert celebrating Franz Schubert, a teen talent show, and a dinner theatre mystery. For further information contact the church at 771-4408 or visit online at www.shandonpres.org.
