Columbia students receive Joan Brady scholarships

Representative Joan Brady annually awards three scholarships to young women in House District 78 graduating from a local high school and attending an in- state college or university.

"It is always a pleasure to recognize such outstanding young women in our community. We hope they will return to Columbia after college and become active in the political process," said Rep. Brady (R) Richland County.

This year's recipients are Rhett Dukes, a graduate of AC Flora HS; Mimi Keenan, a graduate of Hammond School; and Elyse Kriegshaber of Richland Northeast HS. All three recipients are attending the College of Charleston this fall. The scholarships are funded through the S.C. General Assembly Women's Caucus and the S.C. Legislative Republican Women's Caucus. Scholarships are awarded to students who have exhibited the highest degree of integrity and a commitment to public service.
