Charter school planners to file lawsuit

The Hope Charter School Committee plans to file a lawsuit in S.C. Administrative Law Court challenging the doublestandard used by the Richland 2 school board to deny the proposed charter school.
The Richland 2 school board in July rejected the proposed Hope Charter School, despite the fact that the proposed yearround, K- 5 school was certified by the state Department of Education as having met the state's rigorous charter school standards.
A week prior to the vote, the Richland 2 school board's approval of a new charter high school for at- risk students was based upon its certification by the state Department of Education.
