Tina Herbert, Tiffany Spann- Wilder, Rebecca Roser, and Trey Suggs The South Carolina Bar's Young Lawyers Division (YLD) was recognized at the ABA annual meeting in Chicago as the recipient of the American Bar Association (ABA) Young Lawyers Division's Most Outstanding Public Service Award for its Families Forever service project.

Chaired by N. Charleston lawyer and past president of YLD Tiffany Spann- Wilder, the Families Forever project focuses on adoption awareness throughout the state. Family Fairs were held in Columbia, Charleston, and Greenville last year to encourage and educate families on foster care and the adoption process, both domestic and international, whether through the S.C. Department of Social Services, an adoption agency or through private arrangements. As a result of this project, at least 10 children have been placed in homes, including a family of five children. YLD plans to continue the project this year with fairs in Greenville and Charleston.

Two other YLD projects which received special recognition are the YLD Leadership Academy, chaired by S. Venus Poe; and Mothers in the Law: Balancing Family and Work, chaired by Amy Hill.

The Young Lawyers Division includes all members of the South Carolina Bar under age 36 and those with less than five years membership.

The South Carolina Bar, which has a membership of more than 13,000 lawyers, is dedicated to advancing justice, professionalism and understanding of the law.
