The Central Carolina REALTORS ® Association (CCRA) honored 15 REALTORS® and inducted them into the Silver Service Club at the August 13, 2009 membership luncheon. The Silver Service Club is for those members who have been with the Association for 25 years. The Leadership Columbia program's 65 business and community leaders have been selected for the 2009- 10 Leadership Columbia class. Leadership Columbia is a nine- month program sponsored by the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce. For one full day a month, class members attended sessions where local leaders in business, government, education, environmental issues, community development, health and human services, and the arts and culture arenas share their knowledge through lively discussion and activities that highlight real situations, needs and opportunities within the Midlands. Congressman James Clyburn received the 2009 Citation for Exemplary Services to Public Works. He was nominated for the award by City of Columbia staff members who are also members of American Public Works Association.

The South Carolina Association for Justice presented its Worthy Adversary Award to Sol ici tor Donnie Myers at the association's annual summer convention. The award stated "In recognition of your professionalism, honesty, ethical behavior, and distinguished service to the legal profession." Myers is the first Solicitor to receive the award, which is given annually to an attorney selected by the Association's Board of Governors. After accepting the plaque, Solicitor Myers said, "It is truly a heart- felt honor not only as the first Solicitor to receive this awesome award, but also being chosen by the best trial lawyers in South Carolina."
