Miss Thomas and Mr. Gar ett exchange vows July 25, 2009

Rebekah Olivia Thomas and Daniel Richard Garbett Jr. were married July 25, 2009, at Kathwood Baptist Church. Kevin Roberts performed the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by Ken Anderson and Charlie Polk.

 

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Thomas. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Sherrill C. Smith and Mrs. Maggie W. Thomas and the late Robert L. Thomas. Her great grandmother is Valerie Sturgeon of Darlington, South Carolina. The bride graduated from Hammond School and the University of South Carolina with a BS in physical education. She is employed by Richland County School District Two.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel R. Garbett, formerly of Parker, Colorado. His grandparents are Ms. Eleanor Grindol of Aurora, Colorado, and Mrs. Mary A. Garbett and the late Richard T. Garbett of Aurora. The bridegroom graduated from Rigis Jesuit High School in Aurora and Otero Junior College in Junta, Colorado. He is employed by Coinstar Enterprises.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a strapless gown with re- embroidered lace at the bodice and across the train. The lace was shaped in a scalloped edge at the hemline of the gown and was highlighted with pearls and sequins that captured the light accentuating the semi- cathedral train.

The maid of honor was Ashley Lauren of Greer, South Carolina. The bridesmaids were Kristin Long Connell of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Paige Gaulin Lowe of Seneca, South Carolina; Jewell Younger Gibbes of Oxford, Mississippi; Erin Leigh Schumpert of Columbia; and Elizabeth Collins Turnage of Columbia. The junior bridesmaids were Mary Leigh McEachern of West Columbia, and Elizabeth McKenzie Roberts of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

The groomsmen were Richard Thomas Garbett, Stephen Andrew Garbett, and Schott Brett Garbett, brothers of the bridegroom, all of Irmo, South Carolina; James Brett Thomas, brother of the bride; and George Thomas Hines of Chapin.

The reception was held at Woodcreek Country Club. The couple chose Ocho Rios, Jamaica, for their honeymoon.
