The Richland 2 school board rejected a year- round, K- 5 charter school recently, despite the state Department of Education's assessment that the proposed Hope Charter School meets the state's rigorous charter school standards.

The vote also came a week after the school district voted to approve Richland 2 Charter High, a school that would accept roughly 80 at- risk students from Richland 2 schools.
