Ridge View scores in Nashville
Destinee Allen The 2009 National Leadership Conference for Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) was held in Nashville, Tennessee June 24- 28 at the Opryland Hotel.
Fifteen Ridge View students qualified to attend and compete in a wide variety of categories related to the health science field along with 6,300 students and advisors from across the Nation.
HOSA is a professional student organization for high school and college students interested in a career in the health science industry. Ridge View has 84 HOSA members from which 43 competed at the SC HOSA State Conference in March.
From the original 43, 15 qualified to compete at nationals. Diane Melton and Mary Harmon (work- based learning coordinator) chaperoned the young people to Nashville.
Destinee Allen, a rising junior at Ridge View High School was the winner of First in Nation in Medical Spelling - gold medal.
Michelle Feggans, graduated senior headed to USC as a freshman was the winner of First in Nation in Physical Therapy - gold medal.
Michelle Feggans Meera Manghani, rising senior, was the winner of Seventh in Nation in Bio-Medical Technolog.
Creative Problem Solving Team - Erin McAboy, graduated senior; Chelsea Randolph, rising junior; Victoria Louis- Jean, rising junior, took ninth place in the nation in a category that required team work and critical thinking.
