Epps chosen for U.S. Soccer National Player Pool
Rex Epps, son of Tammie and Reggie Epps of Irmo, SC, recently represented S.C. as part of the S.C. Youth Soccer Association's Olympic Development Program. As a member of one of two teams in his age group from S.C. coached by Bert Molinary, assistant men's soccer coach at the University of South Carolina, and Will Eudy, varsity boys soccer coach at Cardinal Newman School, Epps competed against more than 400 boys from 11 states at the Region III Olympic Development Soccer Camp in Tuscaloosa, Ala. From that group, Epps was one of 24 players chosen from the region to be part of the U.S. Soccer National Player Pool.
As a member of National Player Pool, Epps receives an all expense paid trip to US U- 14 National Identification Camp in Concord, Mass. to compete against the best 120 soccer players from across the nation for a spot on the US National Team. Epps plays locally as part of Columbia United 95 Boys Elite. He is a rising seventh grader at Dutch Fork Middle School.
