Ad riddled with false and misleading statements
July 24, 2009
Today, a major cable provider in South Carolina decided to pull down a television advertisement purchased by the DNC attacking Sen. Jim DeMint. After reviewing the legal arguments presented by attorneys for DeMint for Senate, Charter Media in Greenville, SC, has pulled the ad from circulation. As of this afternoon, the attack ad will no longer run on any of Charter Media's cable stations anywhere in the upstate of South Carolina.
Upon learning this news, Senator DeMint said, "The President's attack ad was false and misleading, and I'm pleased it will be pulled off the air. Moving forward, I hope the President engages in an honest debate of ideas to truly reform America's health care system. As this whole matter illustrates, I have personally offered major health care reforms and so have many other Republicans. I look forward to continuing to work on this issue on behalf of the citizens of South Carolina and the rest of the nation."
