The planners of a proposed year- round K- 5 charter school in Richland 2 praised the Richland 2 school board for its decision to approve Richland 2 Charter High School. Richland 2 Charter High will serve 80 nontraditional students beginning in summer 2010.

"The school board tonight said that Richland 2 Charter High met the rigorous certification requirements of the Charter School Oversight Committee, and so it made sense to approve the charter," said Michael Letts, a member of the Hope Charter School governing body. "We certainly commend the school board for its decision, and welcome this new addition to the Richland 2 community."

The Richland 2 school board will vote on Hope Charter School on Tuesday, July 28. The meeting at Dent Middle School will be held at 6 pm.
