All members of the Committee for the Restoration and Beautification of Randolph Cemetery and other interested persons are encouraged to attend a public meeting to determine the future preservation and use of the Historic Randolph Cemetery, August 20, 6 pm, in the auditorium of the South Carolina State Museum located at 301 Gervais Street in downtown Columbia.

Since 2006, the Committee and the Downtown Columbia Cemetery Task Force have been working to document and assess the current conditions at the site. Based on a comprehensive survey, which indicates that there is little or no space for new plots, the Committee and Task Force will present a recommendation to declare a moratorium on future burials and sale of plots at Randolph Cemetery. Anyone with family buried at the cemetery may cast a vote at this meeting and are asked to attend.

For more information please contact Carlos L. Smith, Ph.D., President, Committee for the Restoration and Beautification of Randolph Cemetery, 803- 319-9833.
