Statement on student loan legislation
      The South Carolina Student Loan Corporation, South Carolina's only nonprofit student loan provider, released the following concerning the introduction by House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller (D- CA) of H.R. 3221, the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act. The Committee is scheduled to mark up the legislation on Tuesday, July 21.

Hope Charter School planners praise Richland District 2
      The planners of a proposed year- round K- 5 charter school in Richland 2 praised the Richland 2 school board for its decision to approve Richland 2 Charter High School. Richland 2 Charter High will serve 80 nontraditional students beginning in summer 2010.
