Jackson Vause bats for Richland Post 6. Jackson Vause bats for Richland Post 6. On Thursday July 9, Richland Post 6 defeated Columbia Northeast Post 182 10- 2. Post 6 racked up 12 hits to go along with 7- 2/3 of an inning of pitching from Bud Jeter, in which he gave up only two runs on eight hits and struck out 13.

Neither team mounted much offense, until Post 6 came to bat in the bottom of the second. Raymond Prince led off with a single. After Woody Horn flew out, Rush Tompkins singled and David Houser walked to load the bases for Post 6. A fly out by Jackson Vause scored Prince, to give Post 6 a 1- 0 lead. Brett Fulmer hit a shot to right field, scoring Tompkins and Houser before Fulmer was thrown out trying to reach third. After two innings, Richland Post 6 held a 3- 0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, Post 6 extended its lead. Prince led off with a single. After stealing both second and third, he was in scoring position with Houser coming to bat. Houser doubled, scoring Prince and extending the lead to 4- 0.

Jeter dominated the Columbia Northeast bats, holding Post 182 scoreless while his offense supported him with four runs.

In the bottom of the seventh, Richland continued to stretch out its lead. After a lead- off fly- out, Kyle Towles singled and Kurt Stoudenmire doubled, putting runners in scoring position for Post 6. Prince walked to load the bases and bring Horn to the plate. Horn doubled, scoring Towles and Stoudenmire and giving Post 6 runners on second and third. After Tompkins flew out, a wild pitch to Houser scored Prince and gave Post 6 a 7- 0 lead after five innings.

While Post 182 couldn't figure out how to score off of Jeter, Post 6 continued to bring in the runs. Post 6 started off with a single from Brett Fulmer. A Towles walk put runners on first and second when Stoudenmire came to the plate. Stoudenmire doubled, scoring both Fulmer and Towles, extending Post 6's lead to 9- 0.

In the top of the seventh, Post 182 finally broke into the scoring column. A lead- off double from Tony Prince gave Post 182 a little momentum. He scored when Julio Iglesias, the next batter, blasted a two- run home run to right center field. The home run made the score 9- 2 after the top of the seventh.

In the bottom of the seventh, Post 6 added to its lead. With two outs, Jackson Vause and Fulmer both singled to give Post 6 runners on first and second with Kyle George coming to the plate. George popped up to the third base side, but the ball was dropped, allowing Vause to score from second and giving Post 6 a 10- 2 lead that would ultimately be the final score.
