Spring Valley Rotarian of the Year

Contributed by Diane Howard

Dr. George Crow Dr. George Crow The Rotary Club of Spring Valley selected Dr. George Crow as its 2009 Rotarian of the Year.

Crow joined Rotary in 1983 and has held a variety of positions including ambassadorial scholar chair, health and happiness chair, membership chair and program chair. He is currently serving again as program chair, responsible for ensuring that a speaker is scheduled for each weekly Rotary meeting. He has been active in the Spring Valley Rotary Club for over 25 years and during the same time has served as a volunteer in a number of capacities for Richland County School District Two.

According to immediate past- president Stan Luallin, "This year, we looked at the body of work that George has put in over the years. Many clubs struggle with the task of scheduling weekly speakers, but George makes it look effortless. He is an integral part of our club," added Luallin.

Crow is the senior pastor at Northeast Presbyterian Church, PCA. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and spent five years flying helicopters with tours in Vietnam, Florida, and the Panama Canal Zone. He resigned active duty as a Captain in the USAF to attend Columbia Biblical Seminary (CIU) and graduated in 1979 with a master of divinity degree and earned his doctorate of ministry in 1994 from Reformed Theological Seminary.

Crow and his wife Cathy have two grown children, daughter Emily, an International MBA student at the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business; and son Daniel, a Ph.D. student in philosophy at the University of Wisconsin (Madison). They reside in North Springs.
