      The American Red Cross responded to a single- family house fire in Richland County June 22- 28. Disaster assistance was provided for two individuals at a total cost of $810.96.

Music guild wins awards
      When the members of the Musicians and Songwriters' Guild of South Carolina put together a collection of children's songs for the Palmetto Health Children's Hospital, they were trying to have some fun with music and help do a little emotional healing. The songs were either originals by the artists or tunes for kids the singers remembered from their youth.

CCN elects new officers
      The Columbia Council of Neighborhoods met Thursday June 25. Five new officers were installed. Selena Pickens is the assistant secretary; Bruce Sanders, treasurer; Gail Baker, secretary; Mary Baskin Robins, president elect, and Alexzena Furgess, vice president. Bessie Watson was installed as the new CCN President.
