Molly and Roland Hughes celebrate their 50th anniversary
Dr. and Mrs. Roland G. Hughes Jr. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 20, 2009, at a party held in their honor with all of their four children and their families: Carolyn (Rex) Culbertson, Virginia (Patrick) Greene, Holly (Wim) Lewis, and Grant (Brenda) Hughes) including 11 grandchildren: Rex Simmons "Rocky" Culbertson Jr., Paul Maxwell "Max" Culbertson, Eliza Cotesworth Culbertson, Christina Diane "Chrissy" Brown, Mark Douglas Brown Jr., Austin Thomas Brown, Joseph Hamilton "Joey" Brown, William Nelson "Will" Lewis III, Logan Seabrook "Brook" Lewis, Walter Roland "Walt" Lewis, and Mary Murphy "Mia" Hughes.
Molly (Sasnett) and Roland Hughes, Easter, 2009 Roland and Molly were married at Trinity Cathedral, Columbia, SC on Saturday, June 20, 1959, after meeting the previous summer in New Hampshire while working as camp counselors near Lake Winnipesaukee. Roland, a Pennsylvania native, served in the U.S. Army and was an educator at both high school and college levels. He received his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania; Molly graduated from the University of South Carolina.
Dr. and Mrs. Roland G. Hughes Jr. Roland, a tenured professor in the School of Education at USC retired in 1978. Following retirement, Roland and Molly have spent many years building their worldwide Amway Global business they continue to actively oversee as they travel around the world helping others achieve their dreams. The family plans to continue their celebration together at Disney World next week.
