Miss Lindsey and Mr. Gleason exchange wedding vows
Brigette Nicole Lindsey and Derek Marsh Gleason of Peachtree City, Georgia, were married April 25, 2009, in a beautiful outdoor setting in the garden at 403 North Lake Events in Lexington, South Carolina. The Reverend Riley W. Eubank performed the 6:30 pm ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. Derek Marsh Gleason The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William N. Lindsey Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Douglas Glass, and Mrs. Ruth T. Lindsey and the late Mr. William N. Lindsey Sr., all of Locust Grove, Georgia. She earned a B.S. in biology cum laude from Furman University. She recently completed her third year of medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and is pursuing a dual M.D./M.P.H.
The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen A. Gleason of Peachtree City, Georgia, is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marsh of Altoona, Pennsylvania, and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Gleason of Conneaut, Ohio. He earned a B.A. in history and a B.A. in Spanish cum laude from Furman University. He earned an M.A. in Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Indiana University. He is the assistant soccer coach for Columbia College.
The bride, escorted by her father, was given in marriage by her parents. She wore her mother's wedding dress and illusion veil worn 35 years ago when her parents were married. New lace replaced the original Venice lace that had yellowed. The dress was a formal gown of white silk organza over peau de soie, fashioned with a scooped neckline, fitted waistline, and circular skirt that swept back into a chapel length train. The fingertip length illusion veil was attached to a wide headband covered with matching lace that replaced the original camelot cap.
The bride carried a hand- tied bouquet of blue volkenfrieden delphinium, medium blue hydrangea, white daises, attaché bright pink roses, green button mums, and yellow sweetheart roses.
The maid of honor was Kate Sakolosky. Bridesmaids were Gretchen Hach, Melanie Jeffries, Diana Marino, Kristine Tenini, Greta Thielen, and Rebecca Van Wyke. The flower girl was Bess Shuler.
The best man was Josh Gleason, brother of the bridegroom. The groomsmen were Christopher Fowler; Robert Huefner; Chad Lindsey, brother of the bride; and Ryan Webb. The ushers were Nathaniel Kenny, Andrew King, Patrick Mieritz, and Davis Tate.
Music was provided by a string quartet from the Richland Two District Orchestra. Giovanna Gomez, friend of the bride was a soloist. Chad Lindsey, brother of the bride, sang and played guitar.
The scripture readers were Michele Woodford, cousin of the bride, and Scott Shuford, friend of the groom.
Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception in the Carriage House and gardens of 403 North Lake Events.
The couple enjoyed a honeymoon trip to Cape San Blas, Florida, and will reside in Columbia for the next year while the bride completes her M.P.H. at USC.
