Killian Elementary School was one of the ten public schools in South Carolina to win the state's prestigious Exemplary Writing Award.

The Exemplary Writing Program is sponsored by the State Department of Education and is based on an extensive evaluation of the schools' instructional programs with a particular emphasis on the teaching of writing.
