Free adoptions at PETS, Inc.
"Too many cats and kittens ... too many dogs and puppies. We just don't have the room to take them all. And turning them away is much harder than you can imagine" an exhausted Pat McQueen lamented as she tucked a litter of kittens into a small cage to await adoption.
PETS, Inc. is always abuzz with animals coming and going, but lately, the number of incoming puppies & kittens has been overwhelming. "We know the ones we can't take are pretty much destined for the pound or left to reproduce and make the problem even worse," said McQueen, President of PETS, Inc.
The rescue agency will rebate the entire $125 adoption fee on all mixed breed dogs and cats (any age) for the next few weeks. The rebate will be in the form of a certificate for pet food and supplies at their non- profit pet shop. All necessary tests, vaccines, and spay/neuter surgeries and a 30 day insurance policy will be included with all approved adoptions.
There is a catch. All adopters must be approved by a staff adoption counselor.
PETS, Inc typically places about 200 dogs and cats in adoptive homes each month. The 100% rebate will enable the organization to provide free adoptions to the people who are willing to support their rescue efforts with their shopping dollars.
The Adoption Center and non-profit pet shop are located at 300 Orchard Drive in West Columbia. They are open until 8pm everyday.
