SUMC employee serves 50 years plus
      Members of Shandon United Methodist Church celebrated Nancy Kelley's 50 years of employment June 14. She began working June 15, 1959, as financial secretary. She also directed the children's choirs and the handbell choir, and in the 70s, she became Shandon's organist.

      Roll call Columbia City Council met behind closed doors around 8 am for an executive session to discuss the search for a city manager. They met with James Mercer, president of Mercer Group. Forest Acres City Council discusses festivals, trash, and new 911 system
      Roll call The June 9, 2009, Forest Acres City Council meeting began with a public budget hearing. After the hearing Mayor Brunson called the meeting to order. Lee Holloway, Ginger Dukes, Frank Brunson, Shell Suber, and Mark Williams were all present. Councilwoman Dukes led those assembled in invocation and pledge.
