Richland One students win state writing awards
      Horrell Hill Elementary School student Tyler Gregory Turner- Clayton and St. Andrews Middle School student Tyler Edmond have been honored as district winners in the State Superintendent's Writing Award program. In all, the State Department of Education honored 137 fifth and eighth- grade students in South Carolina as district winners.

Bridge Creek second grader presents artwork to superintendent
     Brendan Taylor, a second grade student at Bridge Creek Elementary, presented his artwork to Dr. Steve Hefner, superintendent of Richland Two schools, at a special reception on June 3. Each school in Richland Two had one piece of ar twork selected that will become a part of the superintendent's permanent collection and will be on display at the distr ict office. Brendan Taylor's was selected by the superintendent to represent Bridge Creek.

New Richland Two year round charter school forming, volunteers collecting signatures

      A group of Northeast Richland residents is holding a signature drive to begin a Richland Two Public Charter School year round. The Hope Academy Charter school committee has submitted its charter- school application to the S.C. Department of Education, and is currently in the process of collecting signatures from current Richland Two parents.

Heathwood Hall earns four statewide awards for PR, marketing projects
      Heathwood Hall Episcopal School took home four statewide awards at the recent S.C. Public Relations Society of America (SCPRSA) banquet. The school won top honors in four "Silver Wing" categories at the state chapter's annual Mercury Awards banquet.

A.C. Flora student serves as page for N.C. House of Representatives
      Kelly Grady, a student at A.C. Flora High School, recently served as a page for the North Carolina House of Representatives. She is the daughter of Harry and Karen Scruggs of Columbia and was sponsored by Representative Tricia Cotham (D- Mecklenburg).
