The Trustus Youth Theatre in partnership with the NiA Company will premier a new script of Brer Rabbit, the American folk tale that inspired Disney's Song of the South.

This American classic opened Thursday June 4 in the Trustus Black Box Theatre at 7 pm, and continues June 5 (7 pm), June 6 (11 am , 7 pm), June 11 (7 pm), June 12 (7 pm), and June 13 (11 am, 7 pm).

The Trustus version of this classic folk tale is full of surprises.

Brer Rabbit follows the stories of the title character, known as a trickster. His adversaries often try to catch him, but Brer Rabbit always tries to find a way out using cunning. While he's not always successful, Brer Rabbit's efforts made him a folk hero.

Trustus Theatre is located at 520 Lady Street, behind the Gervais St. Publix. Parking is available on Lady St. Entrance to the Trustus Black Box is through the glass doors on the side of the building facing Huger Street.

For more information call Joe Morales in the box office Tuesdays through Saturdays 1- 6 pm at 254-9732.
