Flora soccer players honored

A.C. Flora varsity soccer players Morgan Mitchell and Max McEachern A.C. Flora varsity soccer players Morgan Mitchell and Max McEachern Several A.C. Flora varsity soccer players received special awards at the annual Spring Sports Awards Banquet held Wednesday, May 20, at Crayton Middle School.

Lee Knudsen, Morgan Mitchell, Alex Richards, and Cameron Wegrzyn were named All- Region players in boys soccer for 2009.

The "Golden Boot" Most Valuable Player award was given to Wegrzyn, and Knudsen received the Most Valuable Defender award. Mitchell, the team's captain, was voted by his teammates to receive the A.C. Flora Falcon award.

Max McEachern, senior goalie, received the Coaches Award from head coach Jamie McClendon.

The team ended one of its best seasons with a 14- 6 record. The Falcons defeated Greenville 1- 0 in the first round of playoffs but lost to Daniel 4- 2 in the second round.

The banquet was sponsored by the A.C. Flora Athletic Booster Club.
