Fourth graders from Illinois love S.C.

In Aviston Illinois, the fourth graders in Mrs. Niemeyer's class love South Carolina. Their plea for information about South Carolina was printed in The Columbia Star several months ago, and I responded with a packet of pictures and news for their geography study. Kelsie and the rest of the class wrote this to me:

Dear Jacolyn,

We think South Carolina is very pretty such as its beaches. Now I will tell you how we are different from each other. As you have a moderate climate, we have a seasonal climate. You are near the Atlantic Ocean as we are landlocked. Here are some stuff about our state. We live 45 minutes away from the St. Louis Arch. Our famous industry is farming. Our famous crops are wheat and corn.

I will also tell you how we are almost alike. We are almost alike because we both have plains but you have mountains, too where we don't have mountains.

Thank you for the letter, the book of smiles and places, and the South Carolina highways packet.

Thanks again, Kelsie and Class, Mrs. Niemeyer's fourth grade
