The Rosewood Community Council met on Thursday May 21. Gerry Lynn Hall talked about the advantages that Community Development can provide. For any issue involving the city there are three ways Community Development can be informed: Call 311; call 545-3381; visit the city's website at www.columbiasc.net and fill out a request. When you submit the request, you will receive a ticket number, which is important if you want to check on the status of the report, something that can also be done online. The average response time for the online requests in 5- 7 days.

Officer Jordan, with the Columbia Police Department, reported on one burglary on South Kilbourne. Jordan says that one suspect has already been arrested, but there is a possibility that there might be an accomplice to the crime.

Rebecca Munnerlyn updated the residents on the Bagnal property issue. The City Council denied a request by Mr. Bagnal to change the zoning of the property. The next step for the property is that Dr. Belinda Gergel has proposed to form a group to provide guidelines for proper development of the property.

Munnerlyn also reported that a proposal has been made to build an urban farm at the end of Jim Hamilton Boulevard. Robbie McClam, a local architect, has proposed for the farm style building to be built in the area. There will also be an enclosed green house that will be self- sustaining. There will be rows and rows of growing space, as well as an education center. McClam was granted an exception to the zoning rules by the city council.

The next Rosewood Community Council meeting will be held in June.
