Lewis leads Bearcats over Stall in first round

Stall Warriors in dominating fashion winning 9- 0 to advance to the second round. Taylor Lewis accounted for four of those goals, three by halftime. The Bearcats out shot R.B. Stall 26- 6, including 16- 0 in the first half.

It didn't take long for the Brookland- Cayce to get on the scoreboard. Lewis hit a shot from the top of the box in the second minute to give Brookland- Cayce an early 1- 0 lead. Nine minutes later, he scored from the middle of the box to push the score to 2- 0.

Lewis completed the first half hat trick in the 24th minute, putting Brookland- Cayce up 3- 0. However the Bearcats were not done scoring.

In the 30th minute, Thomas Harris made a shot attempt that hit an R.B. Stall defender and deflected into the goal, giving Brookland- Cayce a 4- 0 lead.

Only a minute later a throw in by Brandon Paul provided the opportunity for Rico Jackson to head the ball in from in front of the goal to increase the lead to five.

The last goal of the first half came from a shot attempt by Greg Stone that Josh Boatwright collected in front of the goal and put in the back of the net to give Brookland- Cayce a 6- 0 lead at halftime.

Coach Kevin Heise decided to play some of his starters for the first part of the second half. This resulted in one of his players reaching a milestone. Lewis scored his fourth goal of the night, when he leaped in the air off of a pass from Juan Flores and headed a ball into the net to extend the score to 7- 0. The goal was Lewis's 40th of the season and 53rd of his career.

In the 60th minute, Greg Stone took the ball near midfield and proceeded to carve through the R.B. Stall defense and kicked the ball past the goalie for the score, giving the Bearcats an 8- 0 lead. The final goal came in the 73rd minute, when Chastin Lockhart headed the ball in the goal. Flores again provided the assist, to give the Bearcats the 9- 0 victory and advance them to the second round.
