A Middle East Expedition Part 7: Luxor

      We left Cairo at 7:45 am. During the one- hour flight to Luxor the Nile River was on our right and the desert and the Red Sea were on our left. Luxor is the world's greatest open- air museum. This site of ancient Thebes is the home base for Luxor and Karnak on the east bank of the Nile and Valleys of the Kings and Queens on the west bank.

A trip to Goodwyn Cemetery excites the spirits

      University of South Carolina students, led by Dr. Robert Weyeneth, director of the public history program, and Dr. Thomas Lekan, associate professor in the history department, recently joined members of South East Rural Community Outreach (SERCO) for a tour of historical sites in Hopkins, including the Goodwyn Cemetery.
