Mid- Carolina NAMI 2009 Walk draws 1,100
Bill Lindsey, executive director of NAMI SC; USC First Lady Patricia Moore- Pastides; Judy Davis, executive vice president and chief legal counsel, BlueCross/BlueShield of S.C.; and Buddy Wier, president, Mid- Carolina NAMI Buddy Wier, president of Mid- Carolina National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, is happy to report a markedly increased turnout of more than 1,100 registered walkers at the second annual NAMI Walk, Saturday morning, April 26, at the West Columbia Amphitheater along the Riverwalk.
Seen among the volunteers and contributors present were Judy Davis of BlueCross BlueShield of S.C., Ed Mullins of Nelson Mullins, USC First Lady Patricia Moore- Pastides, S.C. NAMI Executive Director Bill Lindsey, T.J. McKay of Magic 98.5 FM and WISW 1320 AM, Gene Green of NAI Avant, and Mrs. United States Gariane Gunter M.D.
Teams with a large turnout included Collins & Lacy, USC, the SCDMH, Five Points Rotary, Girls on the Run, the Mosquitoes, and Long's Drugstores had the largest team with 80 walkers. Altogether, more than 70 teams made the walk, and plans for next year expect even more.
