Miss Dial weds Mr. Robert Dennis Bovard

Mrs. Robert Dennis Bovard Mrs. Robert Dennis Bovard Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dennis Bovard were married April 18, 2009, at six o'clock in the evening. The marriage is announced by the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. John Donald Dial Jr. Mrs. Bovard, the former Mary Caldwell Robertson Dial, is the granddaughter of Mr. James Hagood Ellison, the late Mrs. Ellison, Mrs. John Donald Dial and the late Mr. Dial, all of Columbia. The bride, formerly of Columbia, is a 2001 graduate of Heathwood Hall Episcopal School and an honors graduate of Clemson University. She continued her studies at Lorenzo de Medici International School in Florence, Italy. Prior to her marriage she was employed in international marketing by the National Geographic Society, Washington, DC.

Mr. Bovard is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grier Cooper Bovard III of Augusta, Georgia. He is the grandson of Mrs. Robert Griffis Dennis and the late Mr. Dennis of Augusta and the late Mr. and Mrs. Grier Cooper Bovard Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also the great- grandson of Mrs. William Gaines Huguley of Greenville, South Carolina. The bridegroom is a 2001 graduate of Augusta Preparatory Day School and received a BA degree from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennesee. He is employed by Augusta Iron and Steel Works, Inc.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father.

Corinne Ellison Dial of Boston was her sister's maid of honor. Other attendants were the bridegroom's sisters Katherine French Bovard Williams of Charlotte and Helen Grier Bovard of Augusta; the bride's cousin Arianna India Livingston Dial of Columbia; Katharine Nicholson Hubbard of Washington, DC; and Ruth Forman Irvin Bowers, Harriet Provence Gallivan, and SarahAnn Marguerite Vanzant, all of Charleston, South Carolina. The flower girl was Katherine Middleton Robinson of Columbia.

Grier Cooper Bovard III served as his son's best man. Groomsmen in the wedding party were the bridegroom's brotherin- law Andrew Wallace Williams Jr. of Charlotte; First Lieutenant Michael Alan Burnette Jr. of San Diego, California; Warren Mercer Ferguson of Richmond, Virginia; Andrew Hall Harmon of Washington, DC; Benjamin Franklin Hill IV and Nicholas Fitzhugh Stone, both of Atlanta; and Jonathan Rhodes Lowe of Athens, Georgia.

The traditional service of consent at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church was conducted by The Very Reverend Dr. Philip Conrad Linder, dean of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Assisting in the ceremony was The Very Reverend Robert Duncan Fain of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd of Augusta.

Also participating were Caroline Parker Mauldin and Caroline Rutledge Osborne both of Washington, DC.

Music was provided by organist Ronald Eugene Miller of First Presbyterian Church and Kenneth Love, trumpeter.

Crucifer and acolyte for the ceremony was Thomas Hodges Hipp.

Ushers were Sherwood McKissick Cleveland and William Choice Cleveland III, godfathers of the bride, and Boyd Calhoun Hipp III.

A reception was held on the grounds of the Governor's Mansion at the Lace House, originally the home of the bride's third great- grandmother and namesake. The Dick Goodwin Orchestra played.

After a wedding trip to France, Mr. and Mrs. Bovard will live in Chapel Hill, where he will pursue an MBA at the University of North Carolina.
