SC Rep. Smith to speak at Capital Senior Center
SC Rep.James Smith's topic at the Capital Senior Center's Wine & Unwind lecture series Wednesday, April
15, will be Serving on Two Different
Fronts: Afgh a nistan &
the State Legislature.
With a wife and family of four children in Columbia along with an established law firm, Representative James E. Smith Jr. arrived in Afghanistan in 2007 with the South Carolina Army National Guard as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
A captain, his unit's mission was to mentor the country's police force, establish security, and build relationships with the villagers.
An eighth generation attorney, and a state representative serving Columbia's District 72, Rep. Smith has had experience in building relationships of all types - as reflected in his lecture title.
His lecture is aptly timed as the U.S. once more escalates military and political influence in that area of the world.
Wine and Unwind is free and open to adults over 21. The events begin at 5:30 pm with refreshments, followed by the lecture and discussion, ending at 7 pm. Reservations for seating are suggested. Call the Center at 779- 1971.
