Greenview principal, SIC leader receive state honors
Lewis Greenview Elementar y pr incipal Delores Gilliard (left) and SIC vice- chair Carlos Primus Lewis Greenview Elementary is making an impact in its community, particularly in getting adult males involved in the school. Because of successful community outreach efforts, principal Delores Gilliard and Greenview School Improvement Council Vice- Chair Carlos Primus were named 2009 South Carolina School Improvement Council (SIC) Advocates of the Year.
Gilliard, along with her school's SIC, has been a driving force behind an outreach effort in the Greenview community to increase parental involvement in the school. Donuts for Dads, the DADS (Dads Are Doing Something) program, NPLB (No Parent Left Behind) and the Annual Male Leadership Conference are a few of the collaborative efforts that Gilliard and the Greenview SIC have implemented to make a real difference in the lives of the school's parents and children.
Primus, a very active parent, community member, and advocate on behalf of children, has been a key player in helping the Greenview SIC reach out to its parents and greater community through a series of innovative and effective programs.
