On Friday March 20, the Dreher Blue Devils beat the Brookland- Cayce Bearcats 1- 0. Chandler Knox threw a complete game for Dreher, throwing five strikeouts and giving up only four hits. James Hall threw a complete game for Brookland- Cayce, throwing 17 strikeouts while also giving up only four hits in the loss.

Both teams carried a scoreless game into the top of the third before Rhett Munson led off with a single. After Munson advanced to second, Kurt Stoudenmire brought him in with an RBI double giving Dreher a 1- 0 lead.

The Bearcats tried to mount a comeback in the fourth. Hall hit a single, and Zach Warner hit a double, giving the Bearcats runners at second and third with only one out. When a wild pitch got behind catcher Matt Spotts, pinch runner Zac McLaurin tried to provide the tying run. However, he was thrown out at home when Spotts retrieved the ball and threw it to the pitcher for the out. Warner advanced to third on the play.

After Austin Harris was walked, Alex Nettles came to the plate. Another wild play offered Brookland- Cayce another chance to tie the score. However, Warner was thrown out at home for the last out of the inning, preserving the lead for Dreher.

Hall kept the Bearcats in the game throughout, averaging at least two strikeouts over the last three innings. The Bearcats were unable to provide enough offense to support Hall's strong outing.

In both the sixth and seventh innings, the Bearcats again tried to mount a rally. In the sixth, the Blue Devils squashed a lead- off single by throwing Matt Martin out at second and causing the next two batters to fly out. In the seventh, after allowing the lead off man to get on base, the Knox got a ground out, a fly out, and a strikeout to hold on to a 1- 0 win.
