East Columbia Basketball has record- setting year

The East Columbia Youth Basketball League won four state championships this season. The league is played out of Caughman Road Park located in the Lower Richland Community. This is the first time any league in the state has ever won four state championships in a single season. We are very proud of these young people.

The four teams that won the State Championships are 10 and Under Girls - Head Coach James Tucker (They played in North Charleston); 9- 10 Boys - Head Coach Daniel Nelson (They played in North Charleston); 11- 12 Boys - Head Coach Michael Davis (They played in Abbeville); and 15- 17 Boys - Head Coach Ira Thomas (They played in Georgetown).

She, along with the ECYBL board, have worked hard all season trying to provide only the best program possible for the youngsters of the Lower Richland Community. It was her excellent leadership that helped guide and inspire the teams. No other youth basketball president has earned this honor of having four state championships.

The league also feeds into Lower Richland High School. Most of the girls on the high school team played in the East Columbia Youth Basketball League.
