While the City of Columbia's winter shelter will be closing at the end of March, the area's homeless population can depend on The Salvation Army to provide a hot nutritious meal six days a week at the organization's 2025 Main Street location.

The Salvation Army serves an average of 54,228 meals per year, but the organization needs donations from the community to do the most good. "The Salvation Army of the Midlands staff takes great satisfaction in consistently providing nourishing meals to those in need," said Major Richard L. Jones, area coordinator at The Salvation Army in Columbia. "But we need the community's financial help so that we can continue to do the most good."

Donations to support The Salvation Army's meals for the homeless program may be mailed to P.O. Drawer 2786, Columbia, SC 29202.
